California REACT Prepares for REACTive Invasion @ 2005 REACT
International Convention
|
| Local
Teams Use "Down Time" to Focus on Planning and Activities
for Attendees

CREST NEWS DESK (CORONA, CA) January 07, 2005 --
CREST Communications REACT Team #4252 hopes the 2005 REACT
International, Inc. (RI) Convention will be "an event to
remember" for all REACTers who attend.
With 2005 elections finalized and the
first meeting for the calendar year finished, members from CREST
Communications REACT Team #4252 have resumed their focus on
preparing for the convention they will be hosting in
2005. Having received the "green light" from
the RI Convention Committee and full approval by the RI Board of
Directors, the team has launched a "multi-pronged attack"
on planning and scheduling in an effort to provide "one of the most
memorable conventions" in REACT history.
"We obviously have a lot to do before Opening Day of the
convention," said Michael Greany, Crest 210/Life Member #556
and designated Committee "Chair" on behalf of Team CREST and
local area REACT Teams in southern California. "We one of
the largest concentrations of REACT Teams anywhere in the United
States and I believe we will have more then enough volunteers to
make up for lost time and still put on a really incredible
convention. Fortunately, most local area teams do not
currently have a heavy event schedule, and we are using that 'down time' to stay
focused."

About
Crest REACT
Crest Communications, one of the largest REACT teams in the country,
has provided communications in southern California since 1978.
While many members also have their amateur radio licenses, the team
uses GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) as their primary
communications tool. Members purchase and maintain their own
equipment, and volunteer their time to promote public safety,
maintain their radio operator skills, and provide communications
services during an emergency.
Also known as
Crest REACT Team #4252, the all-volunteer group is affiliated with
REACT International, Suitland, MD. Since 1962, REACT (or Radio
Emergency
Associated
Communications
Teams)
has been "on scene" at various locations throughout the
world. It is an international organization of radio operators,
who join local teams because they "love radios" and
are "dedicated to public service using two-way radio
communications."
The
team
has also established a repeater network for their communication's
activities. Using licenses issued by the Federal
Communications Commission, this resource is shared with other REACT
teams and to REACT members visiting southern California.
Contact Crest via the team's web site: http://www.crestcom.org.
Crest
REACT meets the first Thursday of each month at the Senior Center in
Corona with meetings starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. Visitors
are always welcome.
